Uniforms

Team jersey & hat will be provided to each player.

Baseball pants, baseball cleats, and baseball socks are strongly recommended. (Team managers may recommend uniform colors for pants and socks.)

Protective cup is required for all male players.

 
Equipment

Baseball Glove is required. Leather glove is recommended, available at sporting goods stores. Smaller length and size gloves are best for young players.

Baseball bat, optional. Bats will be available for team use.

Baseball Bag is recommended to store/carry gear.

All player equipment must meet Little League guidelines.

 
Description

Rookie Baseball is an entry, instructional level of play. Players may have one or more years of experience, but new players are welcome.

At this level players demonstrate progress in mastering the fundamentals of baseball and the rules of the game. Players develop life skills related to teamwork and respect of coaches and umpires. Teams maintain a fun environment for learning.

Teams are organized by school/neighborhood as much as possible. Teammate or coach requests will be considered, but are subject to availability and will be considered in registration order.

 
Learning Objectives

Hitting: Players learn the fundamentals of hitting emphasizing eyes focusing on the ball; stride position; and rotating the hips. Players hit off of live pitches from a pitching machine at this level of play.

Base Running: Players learn the fundamentals of base running, emphasizing hitting the corner of the base; running through or rounding the base; and starting in the proper baseball stance at a base.

Throwing: Players learn the fundamental 2 or 3 finger grip of the ball; proper stance; starting in the "T" position; stepping toward the target; and follow through.

Fielding: Players learn basic fielding skills emphasizing eyes on the ball at all times; fielding ground balls from the "pinkie-to-pinkie" position; and starting position of each defensive position.

Catching: Players will learn the fundamentals of catching including a catcher's stance and hand position; and throwing the ball back to the pitcher

 
Spring Season

Registration: Registration for the Spring Season begins in December and ends in late February. Late registration occurs through March, additional late fee may be applied, and registration will close when teams are full or the season begins. Watch this website for more information on registration during this time period.

Practices: Practices are organized by the team manager with assistance from volunteer coaches. Recommended practice frequency is two times a week during the pre-season (beginning in early March); and once a week during the season. Practices will be held at local school fields in the Marysville School District. Once games begin, teams may practice once a week.

Games: Teams participate in two games a week during the regular season, typically one weeknight game and one weekend game (Friday night or Saturday). Game schedules will be available at least one week prior to the start of game play. Game play typically begins the week following the Marysville School District spring break, dates will be posted on our calendar when available. Games will be held at the local fields.

Games are limited to maximum of 6 innings or 2 hours in length. Games will utilize a continuous batting order; 10 defensive players each inning; and balanced playing time. Scores are kept but not recorded for standings. Game play will be in accordance with Little League Rules and Local rules.

Season: The eight week season typically starts the week following the Marysville School District spring break and extends until the first week in June; for a total of 16 to 18 games. See annual calendar for dates.
